Well Done Allan

Allan Donaldson got an acceptance for the Dingwall, with 'Merlin with Prey' in the nature section. He says he is "Pretty chuffed". I think I speak for all of the club when I say we are all "Pretty chuffed" for him.

Interested In Bird of Prey Photography?

I followed up on a lead from John Murray and contacted the Bird of Prey Centre (World Of Wings) at Cumbernauld.

http://www.worldofwings.co.uk/

Welcome to World of Wings

Come and enjoy the largest collection of Birds of Prey in Scotland.

Our centre has been designed to be a memorable occasion for all, be it a casual visit or a V.I.P. Experience. The varied collection includes Eagles, Owls, Hawks, Falcons, Vultures and Exotics. These majestic creatures can be viewed at very close quarters, be sure to bring your camera! Our sevices include Falconry Courses, School Visits, Educational Talks, Avian Pest Control, Static and Flying Displays for shows and events.

They are willing to give us exclusive access to a morning of photographing various birds of prey, both static and in flight. We would be provided with a falconer who would present the birds in a natural environment within their grounds.

Ideally, a party of 15 would be ideal. They asked for a minimum of 12 people and the cost would only be £10 per head.

This is a great opportunity, as we can get really close to the birds so your kit lens would do. This is a rare chance to get close without using really expensive kit. A lens up to 150 or 200 would be fine if you have it but not mandatory.

The centre is used to photographers going along and have assisted in getting some fantastic photo opportunities. The falconer will fly the birds to a specific point, making in flight shots predictable, and easier to photograph. We can help each other out anyway to ensure we all get something worth while.

Doors Open Day Saturday 10th 11th September 2011

I write to remind you that Paisley Photographic Society will be taking part in this year's Doors Open event on Saturday 10th September. It was agreed that all members should submit their best picture to be displayed. We also agreed members could submit a panel of 4 pictures A4 size mounted. We are now approximately 1 month away and you need to be thinking about the pictures you want to display. To enable us to put on the best display possible don't restrict yourself to one picture. You can bring your pictures along to the club any Friday but we need to have them in by 3rd to allow for selection and hanging.

Any questions please contact me.

Trip to Culzean Castle

Anybody who would like to take part in the photographic expedition to Culzean Castle on Saturday the 21st of May should either phone (07876246324) or email (gadget_al@yahoo.co.uk) Allan Donaldson so that the poor boy doesn’t end up at Culzean all by himself. The plan is to meet at Culzean at 11.00 – just in time for lunch – and then take a photography flavoured ramble around the grounds in the rain, sorry, I meant to say blisteringly hot sun.

If you decide to go and then drop out at the last minute you will get a smacked bottom and sent to bed early without any supper – you have been warned.

Peter McGoff

Peter McGoff

It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Peter McGoff - one of our most respected and loved members.
Although Peter was suffering from cancer he fought it every inch of the way and he didn’t let it get in the way of the things he enjoyed doing.
Peter died on Monday 10th January, his funeral will be held at Woodside Crematorium in Paisley on Wednesday 19th of January at 11.00am.

I will miss him and his demolition stories.
